Hey, not sure if this is in the wrong section. Apologies if it is.
In have an mk3 Renault Megane RS and the Issue I have is the airbag light is on, all connections seem good etc. Auto electrician couldn’t figure out the issue.
The light on doesn’t bother me but it bothers the MOT tester. Anyone know of anyone who could help? I’m based in north Yorks/ north east and need either an auto electrician who specialises in French cars or a local MOT tester who knows what to do.
Any advice etc would be a great help.
Thanks

It's not much help, but you need someone with Renault Clip to go into the airbag ecu to find the fault.
I have a friend who does airbag coding, but we're down in Stoke on Trent. I'm sure there will be someone in the North. Social media would be your best bet no doubt.

You need to find someone with the right diagnostic kit to read the error codes - most of the cheap OBD readers will do engine stuff but won't read the Airbag system. If you are lucky they may be able to reset the error to get rid of the warning light. If you are really lucky the light will stay off long enough to get the MOT done.

A lot of airbag light issues are caused by poor connections especially those under seats that get moved a lot. I would check all those that you can access and maybe use a electrical terminal cleaner spray.

I’ve had it on a clip, they told me it was because there was a rear seatbelt holder missing. However I bought one and the light remains.
Think it’s had different seats in it at some point so not sure if that’s the issue. Had it at an auto electricians and after 4 hours he still couldn’t diagnose it

Yeah I’ve had 182s before with this issue however no amount of fiddling with the cables under the seat will get the light off.

Have you tried getting the code reset after fitting the new seatbelt holder, as it still needs resetting afterwards.

Oh does it? Well that’s massively inconvenient!!
Thanks for that.

Yep. The light on my old Clio 172 Cup used to come on sometimes. Fixed by reaching under the seat and waggling the cables around that hung down underneath.

Yes, the vast majority hold the active code with airbag faults until it is clear and then additionally reset when clear.

I thought that would be the case.
It needs someone driving Clip with the knowhow.

It could even be the front seats. Someone has likely fitted buckets, had it coded, and then refitted standard seats so there is a mismatch between whats actually fitted and the ecu setup
