OIL IN COOLANT SCAM AND EXHAUST - How to remove it?
Discussion
Yes they have tried to scam me the putting oil up the exhaust trick. Went for a test drive smoke started to come out and then giving me all the typical spill, i locked car up said not intersted and walked back in doors.
2 days later another man and his wife come late 8pm straight away open bonnet and say look oil in coolent! I think they were part of the same group and had come back to try it again! Fuming.
Can anyone tell me how to get the oil out of the collent, I am assuming it is a small amount will it affect the engine if I drive without removing it
We should create a community group with picutres and details to catch these b******s
Thanks

I got done about 3 years ago by this scam was only for an old breaker any way but will not let them cheat me again.
Gumtree seems to be the worse for it had to take the car off and even telephone number off ebay so only people can message me then ill decide wether to even let them come down.

Try a turkey baster, you might be able to suck most of it out of the header tank. Oil floats so it should all be at the top.
This is exactly what I did when it happened to me, the blob of dirty oil will just sit at the top of the header tank. As for the oil in the exhaust, unfortunately the only thing you can do is drive the car until it burns off.Warning, it will create James Bond smoke screen levels of smoke until it burns off.

I thought it was a better bet than draining from the bottom as oil would coat the tank on the way down.
I ve just had a couple of idiots try to scam me on my Audi s4 avante
Oil in the coolant and all over the engine and up the exhaust
Any body help on how to fix it?
Is it a major job? Or just take the coolant reservoir off and clean it. How do I clean the coolant system or will that not be contaminated given oil floats on water/coolant

For serious oil contamination of the coolant my indy used to stick a dishwasher tablet in, let it do its thing for a while then flush well.
The odd time we sell a car privately i let the wife vet the calls and deal with lookers while i keep an eye on things, she's pretty good at 'dissuading' the wrong sort.
