skoda fabia locking problems

Morning all my brother has a 2006 skoda fabia 1.6 and all has been well until recently when the remote keyfobs stopped working the central locking still operates from the key and internal buttons but not both keyfobs to date I have checked fuses/battery connections/changed both keyfob batteries still nothing I am led to believe that their is a control unit somewhere but the Haynes manual and handbook are no help if someone could steer us in the right direction that would be great Thanks.
