Can anybody advise please?
My driver's door motor stopped working.
My local garage said it was the motor.
After stripping down the window actuator was ok, the door switch panel, was functioning, the motor unit itself functioned when taken out of its housing, but when the drivers door switch was operated all that happened was a clicking noise from the switch module.
I purchased a second motor unit and switch module but it does exactly the same thing.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks.
Jeff

This may help

Comfort System Central Control Module J393 performs the
following functions:

Sunroof control (issues enabling)
Window regulator control (issues enabling)
Central locking system control
Anti-theft warning system control
Radio receiver
Rear lid closing
Comfort operation

Units also need coding to the vehicle if replaced

Cannot understand your reply.
Is the comfort module the same as the window motor electronic switch unit that makes the clicking sound?

Yes that is very likely the module clicking

Had a thought

Have you checked back from the motor cables through the door loom to the module, or the other way around (same thing)?

There could be a break in the door loom

You may be able to get to the motor cables at the module plug and check for the switched 12 volts that should be at them when operating the switch

Also with the motor cables disconnected from the module (Unplugged), you should be able to continuity test the motor cables from module disconnected plug to door motor disconnected plug for a break

You will need a wiring diagram to test the rest of the windows circuit if the above checks out ok

Thanks, will try continuity testing!
The clicking noise sounds like a solenoid switching over but the lack of movement of the motor suggests that the supply of power is not happening when the solenoid is actuated.
That then suggests, as you mentioned, a problem with the supply.
Will check it out.
