Legal and Safety requirements for car radiators??

Open to all makes and models, preferably post 2000, as an assignment for college ive been given an essay to write on different aspects of factory, unmodified car radiators, one of these is to write on the "Legal and Safety Requirements" of them? iv'e searched about generally recycling and importing laws and regulations, but was wandering if anyone could shed some light on if there are any EU/US requirements for them, also if you could link me the sites with the appropriate information on them that would be fantastic.
