Good morning all.

I have managed to sheer off my friends 1/2" square drive torque bar. Its the type where the 1/2" square bit can be push though the head to act in the reverse direction. I have only broken the 1/2" square drive bit. I have no idea where to find a replacement part. All i really need is some hardened steel 1/2 square bar that’s about 40mm long.

Have i explained it well enough? I cant find anything on ebay / google so i am turning here to help. What should i be looking for?

Cheers

OT, but does anyone actually use these? I bought a set in Halfords as it was deeply discounted and have used it only once in the last two years...

Occasionally, I don't have many deep sockets so it comes in handy.

I tend to use mine more where space is restricted, as it is shallower than my other ratchets. Not for its 'through' capability.

Removing strut top mounts where you have to hold the central shaft with a hex key and they're too deeply inset for a spanner. That's only when I'm out in the field without air power though.

I presume you mean the push through 1/2 inch peice as in a Britool or like torque wrench , a piece of key steel would suffice its strong enough ,it wont have the socket retaining plungers but will do the job , locate your local engineers supplier ,I have replaced a couple of long lost ones like this
