I need a lift for my workshop - there's just about space for a 2 poster but it would be a tight fit and one of the posts would mean I'd never be able to put a car in about a third of the space

Saw these single posters and it got me thinking http://www.automotechservices.co.uk/products/7521-...

Would alleviate my space issues but would it actually be any good for exhaust or transmission work? That beam running between the arms looks like it would be quite obstructive

Anyone got any experience of this type of lift?

I've bought stuff off these guys before, and they treated me OK, good conversation on the phone, and helpful and informed.
I can't answer if it will be too much hassle for you - I would think OK on 95% of the jobs, but it's worth having a chat.
I saw one of these lifts working a few days ago - it's surprisingly big and chunky and might not be as moveable as you might think.
Incidentally, I've had one of the mid height scissors lifts shown in that link, and that has been surprisingly good, especially if you are tight for space.

Appreciate that it won't be easily moveable but it'll be a lot easier to move than a 2 post bolted to the floor smile. Don't think a scissor lift would work because I'd prefer it to lift higher for comfort

Glad the company check out - their 2 posts are very reasonably priced

Shame you can't really "try before you buy" on this type of stuff really!
