Hi guys

Recently lowered my MX5 onto some coilovers and as such my trusty old trolley jack won't fit underneath. I don't really have the desire, need or room to replace the trolley jack, so I was thinking of maybe acquiring a pair of the below ramps. They look pretty sturdy, but I've no experience of them or the manufacturer/ seller.

They arn't cheap as s solution for such a small problem, as you can see, but that aside if they are good and useful then it's a small price to pay! So, anyone use them? Will they crumble at the first sign of a bit of weight?

Before someone says it, I've spent enough time fking about with blocks of wood that skip and bounce about as i try to mount them (hehe), so let's not suggest that as a fix!! biggrin

I tried to get my wifes BMW up onto the normal 2T ramps made from angle steel. However being the first RWD car I've tried to get them on I found that they just slid forwards and out from under the front wheels so I would be wary of that.

I'm interested in this as if they worked I would be interested in getting my Tuscan up on them in the garage to give me a chance to get under if for cleaning and also to get at the seat mount bolts.

I was thinking if these slid away I might fix some old car mat / some tools box drawer gripper to them. smile

To get my wife's 307 onto steel ramps I put driveway type paviours (I just happen to have a couple of dozen lying around) in front of the ramps & drive onto them first. They don't slide around like wood could.

When I had a very low car, I just used two blocks of wood to get the wheels high enough to get the jack underneath. Cost me exactly nothing since I just found an old pallet and cut bits of it to size. smile

did you read my OP? Tried that a million times over. NEVER get both front's onto the timber, one always gets pushed forwrd... and as the the rear, they just get kicked out the back. frown

Trick is to screw/nail/glue the blocks to strips of 6mm ply, drive onto the ply then up the ramps... nothing slips!

Ah I missed the end. Curious, I never had that problem. Maybe something to do with the material the floor is made of? You may find ramps are no better.

I had seen them. Right now, I don't have any ramps either! I've always just used a jack. So to buy ramps and extensions will just leave me with a similar price. My garage floor is painted concrete, for those that asked.

I might try the building a ramp from ply trick on my existing timber. I use, currently, some off cuts of kitchen work top, I chose that because it's real wood (not laminate) and therefore it's quite thick. If I have a helper to stick a foot against the blocks it works perfectly and they are just the right height.

If you just want to raise to get jack under, how about Fiamma Level Pro + anti slip plate. They look quite graduated. I've used metal grid type ones like you linked to before, it's not a fun experience and they also slide across the concrete as you try and drive up them.

I have standard ramps.
I have put carpet scrap cut offs onto the ends so they don't push forward as the wheels contact them.
Wheels go onto carpet and hold the ramps solid to allow the wheels to move up.
