Hi all I am after a new trolley jack as my current one is unable to lift the weight to the height that I need.

Just after some suggestions as looked at halfrauds etc and the reviews are not too great for what they have.

It has to lift a Q7 and mainly for swapping summer to winter wheels so will not get used often or over stressed but does need a decent height lift.

I don't have a budget but I couldn't justify a fortune for something that will get used twice a year.

Thanks all.

My Machine Mart one has lasted a good while - they do them in all shapes and sizes, obviously Clarke is the brand name on it...

As above, I've got this Machine Mart one and it's been great. It's low level for when you need it but lifts nice and high to 375mm and is rated at 1.25 tonnes so should be fine for a corner of your Q7.

Got one of these last year, will definately do it.

Don't forget if you are jacking up one corner of a car you will be almost certainly lifting more than 25% of the weight due to the suspension.

I got a 2 (or 2.5, can't remember) sealey one from Amazon, it was only £45, has more lift than a clarke one and was half the price.
I have a Clarke one too, its only advantage is the lift cup is quite big, not perfect for all situations though. The main problem with it is that when it has weight on it its very hard to release (you do this by twisting the handle), its very hard to turn it, so you put loads of effort in and finally it does release, at which point the car goes flying to the ground, not ideal.
I thought it was just because it was new, but I've had it years now and its not got any better. I wouldn't buy another one.

SGS 3T garage jack lifts high and isn't too expensive - heavy bugger though!

Costco have some bargain priced jacks.

The low access alloy racing jack is very nice.
