Changing a back box on a Matiz - utterly stupid design means I had to lift the car to the full 520mm reach of my jack which none of my stands could match - bit of a hairy moment of prayer and lots of spare wheels wedged in places to try and prevent the car falling on me.

Have only removed it so the same will need to happen again when the new part arrives..... Where can I buy axle stands that will support 520mm+ height? Any recommendations?

It's fixable...

You can get truck axle stands - mine each do 4 tonne and the maximum height must be about 700mm, however if you are using a "normal" jack to raise the car you will need the smaller stands as well plus lots of spacer boards to put under your jack as you will have to lift the car up in stages.

See https://www.machinemart.co.uk/shop/product/details... for details of similar stands.

Thanks - looks like they do have a set but I've gone off SGS after problems with my trolley jack were met with promises of seals that never materialised.

Those or the ebay ones will do the job though and hopefully reduce my chance of death by Daewoo hehethumbup

I have a pair of the Machine Mart 6 tonne stands, and a pair of the 3 tonne ones as well. They are extremely solid, and versatile, and the ratchet system makes them much easier to use.
