Cleaning EGR

Hello All

Can an EGR be cleaned with the help of oven cleaner?

I should think so but it "may" attack some rubber diaphrams in the unit?, i've used over cleaner to clean and free off a sticky VV turbo before with good results, mind you by the time an EGR is so blocked it needs cleaning the inlet is usually very blocked, did a head change on a 54 astra TD last week and it took me 2 days to clean all the crud out the inlet system, the inlet tracts were down from 40mm to 8 in some palces
