Not sure whether any one will know the answer to this. I have some heat resistant spray adhesive and the safety label list Dicloromethane. This is listed by the HSE as "SI 1950 harmful Limited evidence of a carcinogenic effect".

I can't find any where on line as to how many cases of carcinogen activity would have to be observed for it to make this lowest of warnings.

It's new leather handbrake and gear stick gaiter, but seeing this warning obviously makes me think twice.

Maybe wouldn't want to work with it all day, everyday but personally think you're being a little over cautious?

Does it spray? is it sticky? use it.(check life insurance) wink

Have you checked the COSH for the several gallons of glue TVR used on every car! scratchchin

Good point. I think its down to the new labelling methods. I guess I can wear a two pack paint respirator and gloves. I don't like to take chances. And yes it sprays and is sticky. Was concerned the dichloromethane could continue to longer in the car. Not a chemist so don't know what it's life is.

Used to use it in school ('96) for solvent welding plastic together.

It's not great, but as long as you're not using it all day, every day, I'd not worry at all.

Do you drink alcohol? Smoke? Eat fatty foods? All those are carcinogens.

Bright sunny day, so took it all out side. Chemical crisis avoided, diluting the vapours in a few billion gallons of the earths atmosphere in my back garden biggrin

I did look for some alternative high temp adhesives and the 3M products and a few others are marketed as methylene chloride free.
