The new stretch-fit belts for auxiliary drive run without a tensioner. I would like to use one on my build as space is tight for a tension pulley. Anyone know if stretch-fit belt section is the same as K-section for regular belts?

Sorry, I meant I know what a stretch belt is but don't use them as they are a pain in the cock to get on/off etc etc.

AFAIK Ford where the only ones to start using them and then went back to the traditional tensioned route. I've never seen one on any other marque in my time. (just seen that fitment list, didn't realise subaru used them on later stuff, fools !).

Even with the proper tools to get them on/off they are a massive pain that usually requires lots of swearing and lever bar application.

I think the section is the same but as Jimmyarm says they are a PITA to fit, if they have to be removed you are meant to cut them off and fit new. I know a few manufactures tried them but Ford was the main one and they eventually gave up and went back to normal tensioners. Ive changed the timing belt on many a Focus where refitting the stretch belt took longer than the rest of the job complete.
