I've never had one of these go, but looks like the one on my Wife's Citroen C5 has packed in. Access looks easy (famous last words) but I'm aware of the high voltages around these things, and don't fancy being on the end of it.

Is there a specific requirement to discharge anything etc ?

Thank you

I've done a few, no different to any other bulb.

It might be worth swapping them over first,
it has been known for people to have bought expensive new bulbs only to find the ballast(supply unit thats usually on the light its self and looks like a little ecu) has packed up.

Good call.

Funny story attached to the first one I changed. Having never dealt with them before I started with Volvo for a price, some arsey guy on the phone says:

Arsey Guy: They are £120, but I can't sell you one.
Me: Christ. Why not?
AG: They are dealer fit only
Me: Why?
AG: The voltage, you could kill yourself.
Me: They are no higher voltage than spark plugs
AG: Yes, but you don't change spark plugs when they are live (yes, seriously, he said that! )
Me: I'm not planning on changing the bulb when it's live either....

I bought the OE bulb, Osram, from HIDs4u.co.uk for £50 inc next day delivery.
