Oil grades help please
Discussion
Hi there,
Looking to do my own oil/filter change on my old 2002 Astra diesel 2.0 dti but getting a bit lost with what type of oil to put in.
Looking in the (2002) hand book it says use
ACEA-B3, ACEA-A3/B3 or ACEA -A3/B3/B4 with
SAE 5W-30 (or higher than 30)
But when I put my reg in the "oil Finder" on the Castrol website it's saying use MAGNATEC 5W-30 C3
Now is the C3 better than B3, A3 and B4 in all the different combinations stated in the hand book?
Would this oil be fine and do good or bad and do harm?
I'm looking for the very best oil for my car as she's getting old and we all need some TLC
Thanks for looking

You may want to use the best but there is no point in using anything better than what was available in 2002 because the engine was not designed or it. You will find plenty of reputable oil brands that meet Those ACEA specifications, and all of them are at least as good as Castrol.
BTW Castrol is now just a marketing label of BP Oil.
