Aux mode always playing

So I bought this van and already fitted was a pioneer radio with an AUX cable.

I plug my mp3 in and after fiddling around I find out that the AUX is playing at the same time as the radio and also plays when CDs are playing. The radio set won't pick up an AUX source. Does anyone know if I can fix this?
