Sick Audi A3 TDI
Discussion
Im really hoping someone can help with this. I do 500 miles a week and for some time Ive had a problem
with the car going in to limp mode. Usually in the fast lane of the Motorway with a vauxhall Vivaro van closing in on me!
I have to switch the ignition off, turn the car back on and off it goes, boost having been restored.
The car is a 2007 Audi A3 TDI sport 170.Audi have diagnosed as follows,
Intake Manifold change over valve diaphram split. They have quoted me £788 for a new manifold.
I have seen the odd bit of info about repairing the manifold. The best lead I had was from a thread on here.
The name of the guy was Tame technician but I cannot contact him.
Any advise would be very much appreciated.

We has a similar problem with our works van, a 2.5 tdi Renault Trafic. Under heavy throttle situtations, it would cut out suddenly. From memory, the issue was a faulty solenoid on/in the high pressure fuel rail/manifold. Don't know if this will help, but it might be an avenue to explore if the Audi has a similar set up

I like how Audi have diagnosed the problem but everyone seems to be suggesting random other things it could be !
The OP knows what the issue is, he just doesn't want to pay Audi prices for fixing it.
Given only Audi make the parts needed you are a bit stuffed there unless you can find a second hand unit. An independant will normally have cheaper labour rates.

Well, to put it bluntly no.
If it's been diagnosed as the changeover diaphram, then funnily enough it is probably that and nothing to do with the EGR valve.
From what i can gather, they work in conjunction with one another. I was just offering my own experience with the same problem on another car from the VAG group. If it's been diagnosed as the changeover diaphram, then funnily enough it is probably that and nothing to do with the EGR valve.
