Knowing that the Elise and others use glued joints, I was wondering how possible this would be to do in a 'home' environment? I'm guessing they use some fairly evil chemicals to etch the surfaces they're going to bond and probably bake the joint, but if your requirement was a little bit less strict, would it be possible to glue metal to metal and get a decent 'stick' - say enough to build a table you could stand on without breaking?

Anyone know anything about this?

Some of the industrial grade 'chemical metals' are pretty good and might suffice.

I have used Belzona 1111 before and had excellent results.

The trick is to stop peel. On the Elise they use rivets to supplement the joins and prevent peel from starting.

I have used Sikaflex to bond a variety of materials over the years with great success. The stuff they use to bond window screens in place is also an effective glue, try getting one out!

There are various grades of Sikaflex, check out the website and chose the best one, or give them a call, they are really helpful in the technical department!
