track rod ends

So Ive got two cheap track rod ends that I intend to fit but being inexperienced in mechanics and parts Ive noticed that although they are the same make, one is quite stiff but moves whereas the other feels very loose at the ball joint but my question is which one is faulty. Any ideas appreciated.

Generally, good ones are stiff.

But they're cheap at any reputable factor, as long as they're not for something obscenely rare. I think I pay about 8 for baby FIAT ones, a little over a tenner for MR2 ones.

Depending how much play is in the loose one it could be an MOT fail.

A mot failure is not what I want with a new part so I guess I will ditch the loose one and buy another one. Good job they are so cheap.
