Looking to buy a beefy trolley jack, engine crane, load leveller for crane and engine stand in the near future - SGS seem to have decent looking stuff at a fair price (www.sgs-engineering.com)

It all looks very similar to stuff sold under Sealey and other brand names so I assume it comes from the same Chinese factories.

Anyone used them? Is there a better place to buy that lot for ~£350 ?

Oh - good to hear it's actually better. Is it the 2 ton crane you have?

3T garage jack with jacking beam, 2T engine crane, load leveller, engine stand are the things I'm considering.

I have their 3 tonne (non-lightweight) trolley jack. I don't use it heavily, but seems well screwed together and gets a heavy Mercedes up in the air pretty quickly.

I've got this http://www.sgs-engineering.com/hydraulic-jacks/tro...

and I've used the 2T engine crane.

Both work well, the jack has been hammered since getting it and its fine althogh the rubber pad is wearing quickly.

The engine crane is pretty good as well, its really precise going up and down but my word its large. Seriously big and heavy. Complete overkill for me with just a 2.0 and a gearbox!

Reckon the 1T would be sufficient then? I doubt I'll be lifting huge engines just thought it was worth the extra £30 or so

Aye. Thats the same reason my mate bought the 2T, not much more he figured but now regrets it.

Not many engines over a ton these days!

Isn't it more about the weight it can take at the very end of the arm though?

I have the 2.5 ton aluminium racing jack (not won a race with it yet mind you) well put together, but make sure the rubber pad turns up. I've been badgering with them to send mine out as Ukmail lost it. Oh and don't pay extra for the next day delivery as UKMail will ensure it arrives 5, maybe 6, possibly 7 days after you've ordered it.

Oh they use UKmail?

Experience with them makes me almost want to order elsewhere!

Yup but we found (on a clio) that you had to have it fully extended you were so far away from the car it meant you needed a lot of space in front of the car. And binoculars wink

My local motor factors have a sealey 2500le low slung jack. Says I can have it for £90. Seems a decent buy.
Looks a sturdy unit

I've got their 1 ton engine crane which is an excellent bit of kit for the money and their engine stand which is not so great as one of the wheels had the bearings fail on first use, still need to get in contact with them about a replacement.

Apologies for the delay - and I see you ordered anyway - but yes, that one, and had no problems with the delivery. I mostly chose that one for the lift height, rather than capacity.

Should be delivered tomorrow - thankfully with TNT and not UKFail

Hoping it all fits in the back of my A6 Avant so I can take it to where it'll be used....

Just arrived - in the back of a normal van without a tail lift or anything which has to be a bit of a health and safety issue for the poor bloke that needs to try and deliver it!

We got it all into the back of the A6 no problem, stand is a heavy bugger although expected. Was surprised at the weight in the jack too (just shy of 40KG)!

Be a few days before I'll get the chance to test it all out though
