Has it broken as you tried to undo it?
If so no "easy out" extractor will work so do not try.You will waste time and money.
Take the head to your local engineering machine shop to be drilled out ACCURATELY
and then re-tapped.

Can you get the manifold off so that you can get at the broken end? Soak in plus gas, tap the end with a hammer, leave to soak for 30 mins. File flats on it, and use molegrips to unscrew it. I've removed a number in this manner over the years.

I can't see the photo but from the messages on the Bargain Basement thread it's the manifold-to-turbo bolts on a 1.8T VAG engine - the manifold won't lift away with one of them partially in place because the studs on the head won't give it enough play (been there, tried that)

I guess a stud puller could be used to remove the studs from the block but if they snap you're in a whole new world of pain.

The above approach will work if you can get to the remains of the bolt - with perhaps additional heat to get it moving easier.

Three broken studs? That was unlucky. ;-)
