Hello. I have been reading therse forums for a while now but this is my first post, turns out I have a problem with my car and thought/hoped that someone could help identify it.

Basically I have a noise, it starts when i am slowing down, its almost like a chirping noise. It is loudest between 1st and 2nd and as you go through the gears it gets gradually quieter. But even between 4th and 5th if you listen out for it you can still hear it. I'm sure its the gearbox. As the noise stops once I put my foot down on the clutch pedal, or just pop it out of gear. The noise has got worse over the past few days.

Here is a video. Sorry about the lack of visuals. But it was the sound I was trying to capture. There is 3 instances of this noise on here. Any questions I will try and answer as accurately as I can. http://youtu.be/OTFTWyMYSyk

Thank you in advance for any help or advice anyone can give.

Andy

Clutch Release Bearing maybe?

£10 part that unfortunately requires the gearbox off. Usually throw in a new clutch too while your at it.

You know the Polo gearboxes are very fragile? Could be a clutch release bearing, but unlikely with that amount of noise.
