I want to change the oil on my mothers 52 reg Polo 1.4 petrol. Do I need a special tool for the drain plug or will a normal socket do it? Also how do I reset the service indicator?

Thanks for any advice.

Pretty sure they have drain plug key style sump plugs rather than a traditional 19mm hex VW uses. Halfrauds sell a set I expect, worth checking it out under the car first smile

You can reset the servive light manually but ime they come back on within a couple of months for some reason, using VAGCOM or other software resets them correctly.

Thanks for the reply, Jimmyarm.

My mother was bringing the car over so I couldn't have a look first.
Luckily it was the 19mm hex & the indicator re set manually, interested to see if it comes on again!
For the record, it took 3.5 litres of oil & the filter is in a stupid place under the exhaust heat shield!
