Hello,
I am in need of some A/C advice, I'm looking to install it I'm my GT40 replica was planning on fitting this kit
http://www.carbuildersolutions.com/uk/universal-ai...
As specified by SouthernGT, in fact I have found this same kit cheaper second hand (albeit new and unused) so all good but then got thinking... I am not requiring nor connecting the heater matrix of this unit as I will be installing a heated screen and have a 400BHP heater in the boot and there is no shortage of hot air in these cars! So instead I am thinking about getting this one instead with a four output plenum
http://www.carbuildersolutions.com/uk/universal-ai...
But I have noticed there is a big difference in BTUs 17000 compared to 10800! Now that means bugger all to me but I assume it's not as good at cooling? Is that correct? or does the fact that one has a heater mean it has a bigger BTU rating and the cooling would be the same, I have called CBS but they did not know the answer either??
Obviously I would like the saving of the cheaper unit but not at the expense of cooking on the way to Le Mans, and A/C expert out there who could advise?
Cheers

Actually the first one doesn't mention if that's cooling or heating!
There should be a BTU rating for each 'function', ie the one I'm fitting to mine is 290CFM, 14000 A/C BTU and 12000 BTU heat.

I did buy it from the USA while on holiday and 'ship' it back in my luggage though.

the second one Looks like standard univesal 757 formula hang on evaporator I've fitted them in mini buses and security vans it will be more than enough for a car !!the other one with a heat coil would also work fine, the main thing is get the biggest condenser that will fit in and make sure it gets plenty of air flow, best to Wire a second relay into the compressor relay feed so the cooling fan/s run with the compressor this makes it work efficiently keeps the system pressures low and less load on the compressor....hope this helps..
Great thanks for all the advice. Dave the Nostalgic AC unit you bought, does it come with a wiring loom, relays fuses etc...?
I notice they do a cooling only version of it that would be perfect for me and being the same unit as the CBS would take the custom plenum that SGT make.

Yes, wiring loom, relay, thermostat and heater valve.
I know what you're saying about not fitting heating but I'd recommend you at consider at least fitting a combo unit with a heater even if you don't connect it. Relatively easy to connect up if you ever want (two 'T' sections in the front, a valve and a bit of piping) but a pita to swap an air-con only unit for a combo unit if you decide you want some heat.
