Id appreciate some advice on how to proceed with this one as its a bit of a head scratcher.
2007 Mini One, pretty sure its the 1.4 engine.
Is running roughly but does idle ok with slight fluctuations, applying the throttle to take off results in it bogging down and coughing and spluttering which will clear as the revs increase.
No fault codes logged with a decent high end pc based diagnostic tool.
Live data shows a random misfire just on cylinder 1 that comes and goes but wont log a code.
Have not looked at map values or fuel trims etc yet but thought id ask if anyone had any ideas or may have experienced similar issues.
One worrying thing is that the oil pressure light has come on twice when testing for a second or two, all levels are ok.
Have changed the plugs and coil pack to cylinder 1 but no change, ive also tried the cam sensors as i had 2 spare from another mini.
Thinking maybe do a compression test first on number 1 and move on from there, cant say ive heard of too many stories on major faults with these engines but hope someone may know different.
Any advice is much appreciated.

Do a compression test. My wife's cooper was doing the same thing. It would run ok but had a poor idle and a random P0303 code logged intermittently. It had a cracked exhaust valve, which is a common problem with these engines...

Also check the ignition coil, for some reason they corrode the HT terminals, number 3 is particually bad. Ours was doing exactly as you described and a coil cured it perfectly.

Had another play with this yesterday and found that the only things that dont look right are the map reading and pre cat lambda value.
Compressions looked good but the map reading was showing 956 hPa (95 kPa) at idle and didn't change much with throttle opening which isnt right.
Would expect to see this figure at about 30 kPa at idle and 95 kPa at wot, cant see any major vacuum leaks.
Couldnt get a decent reading on the pre cat as it was erratic but the post cat didn't look too bad at 0.6v
Have this car for a few weeks so will try to get to grips with the diagnostic kit im using as im struggling with it at the moment!
