hi all,
wondered if anyone can help me?

I have a 1990 fiesta rst that I bought recently and it was working perfectly until yesterday..
when power cut out suddenly and then it wouldn't start.

I tried to jump and push start it, but no luck..
even when It did manage to start on a push start.. it was much quieter than normal and had no power... as if it had run out of petrol

so I called the rac today who jumped it and it started... and got me a mile home

it then stopped on my drive while the RAC guy was there and he said it was probably a full pump relay issue.
he said he heard the click but couldn't hear the full pump power on.

since he left, it's started once but died pretty promptly while I moved my other car

any ideas how I can best find this and fix it?

and does anyone have any other ideas? like immobiliser related or something? the Clifford is a right pain but its better than my old delocked 1800 which got me in all sorts of nightmare situations!

i'd be really grateful for any help
thanks

my 1990 escort once broke down with the very same problem, fuel pump relay.
Test for power at the pump or just locate and remove the relay and get a replacement, wont hurt to keep a spare if it isn't the culprit.

If the AA suspects fuel pump, you need to rule this out first, a multimeter on the pump itself should help, if you have voltage there but no pump then you can blame the pump, if no voltage then you need to work back to the relay and fuse etc..

Probably the fuel pump. To do it properly you need to drop the whole tank. You can angle grind a hole under the rear seat though. You can buy the pump for about £30 separate from the sender assembly.
