I bought these from my local hydraulic specialist but he charged a fortune for them... I can probably source them on line, but I don't know what to search on!

Anyone know a name for them or seen them before?

Look like the 'Clic' hose clips used by Peugeot (and usually replaced with conventional Jubilee type clips as they can be a pain if you haven't got the appropriate tool)), but I've never seen the bit that goes round the pipe & under the clips before.
'Clic' and 'Ezyclic':

yes, you can... I would like to use these but they don't do down that small. I have been back to the supplier of the clips in the top picture now, he has reduced his prices by quite a bit so I am fixed up now, thanks for the advice and posts though guys.

They don't provide a constant tension and can easily be overtightened - this is why they're not used on modern cars.
