Windscreen - blurry bit.
Discussion
Hi, I know this isn't terribly technical but I would like some advice please.
I have a Fiesta.
I don't know if it is on the inside or the outside as I have thoroughly cleaned both but there is often a blurry bit in my exact line of vision in the middle of my windscreen.
It's like there is a cloudy patch, I can sit up to look over it, but this is not ideal.
This is going to sound stupid but my ex serviced my car and he filled up the bit that supplies water to the windscreen wipers. I have previously done this once before and used a big bottle of screen wash from Tesco.
However, since he did it, the water leaves a white residue at the sides of my screen and the cloudy patch has only appeared since he serviced my car. I don't know what he has used to fill up the (reservoir?) bit.
I don't like to think he has done anything in an attempt to make me lose control of my car and end up in a ditch, but I wouldn't put it past him. and
It's only a small area on the windscreen but directly where i look ahead. It's a nuisance as I drive on the M4 to go to work and I'm worried about it because when the weather is bad, it can make visibility even worse.
I use the inside blower type things to demist the windscreen from the inside.
My own theory is, that the wiper is slightly bent and perhaps not coming into contact with a small portion of the screen? But that isn't consistent with the shape of the cloudy patch.
Any ideas or advice please?
Thank you. X

Firstly, I would get new wiper blades, when were they last changed?
If that doesnt work, use something like autogym glass cleaner inside and out. Normal household glass cleaners leave a residue.
Stop using auto carwashes that put wax on your windscreen (they all do), and avoid car wah shampoo that includes wax, its best to wax the car separately.
You could also syphon the fluid out of the washer bottle and put in some good stuff - VW own brand screenwash is not expensive and it amongst the best, you get it from VW or Audi dealers.
It all that fails, then your windscreen may be delaminating and will need replacing. Is that a crack or a chip in the vicinity of the cloudy patch?

Thank you for reply.
I don't think I have had replacement wiper blades, but I may be wrong. My ex when I was with him, used to sort out my car.
I have been a regular user of drive through car washes as I like my car to have a bit of sparkle and I clean the inside with the same glass cleaner I use indoors, so you do make sense in the points you have raised.
Interestingly, I cleaned my car myself for the first time ever, in a bid to save money and I used rainwater from my water butt and Fairy washing up liquid. I don't recall getting the cloudy bit when I drove my car afterwards!
I will buy the autoglym stuff you have mentioned and clean the inside with it.
Thank you ever so much, I hadn't considered it might be a residue or build up from products.

Don't use fairy! Use a car shampoo, fairy liquid is bad for cars, apparently it can be corrosive, it will remove any wax protection. Rainwater is good if its clean, not good if ots full of bitsI don't think I have had replacement wiper blades, but I may be wrong. My ex when I was with him, used to sort out my car.

You'd be okay with a domestic glass cleaner - it's glass at the end of the day. Use a clean cloth each time, and re fold it whenever it starts to look manky.
And on the fairly liquid -don't use it - there's a lot of salt in it, which speeds the rusting process, not to mention stripping any protective wax off the paintwork.
