Cheap Air Impact Wrench
Discussion
Hi, I have a 8CFM, 50litre, 120psi 2HP!!! beast of a compressor! Now im looking for a cheap air impact wrench for a bit of power when undoing the tight bolts such as my Golfs strut top nuts. Will really only get occassional use so i dont want to spend more than about £50. So any recommendations and has anyone tried the machine mart clarke stuff?
Thanks

Got mine from a 2nd hand tool shop.
You will likely find that your compressor - which is very similar in size to mine - will run it for VERY short bursts & you will then have to wait for it to fully refill for another go.
Small compressors simply don't deliver sufficient volume of air at sustained high pressure. Their advertised cfm is also misleading, they give the air displaced, not the Free Air Delivery which is the important thing. FAD is always MUCH less than the displacement - often just over half.
The 120psi you give will be the maximum working pressure, it won't deliver 8cfm maintained at 120psi, thats 3-phase territory.
You will need a normal size air hose - mine's 10mm id - the plastic curly wurlys won't pass sufficient volume to run it.
On a more positive note it should run SMART size gravity feed HVLP sprayguns - I use it professionally - and should also run a full size gravity fed HVLP spraygun, again, I have one of those with 1.4 set-up & its fine.

I'm afraid that is not a beast of a compressor. Its a baby.
Re. Cheap impact guns, I wouldn't waste your time, I was tempted a while ago and bought one for a penny under 50 quid and its useless. So I went out and bought a Chicago pneumatics and its fabulous. Cheap and good don't exist with air impact guns.
If your determined to try you can have this useless thing I have which is almost certainly what you will end up buying as they all look the same and probably fall out of the same factory in China for a tenner plus post.
