I have bought a smart charger for charging a 'leisure' battery (used for electric fence) - it's a really good bit of tech, I was wondering if it can be safely used to charge a standard car battery?
Excellent, thanks - so, what's special about charging 'leisure' batteries? My understanding is that these batteries are chemically different such that they tolerate being deep discharged better - like our fence battery - so what differentiates a leisure charger?
A smart charger is able to monitor the batteries condition more effectively and provide the charge it needs, I think there are multiple stages of charge form them rather than a standard trickle charge type.
