I have read smithy thread regarding his turbo on the AUDI a4. My turbo has also failed yesterday on our Skoda 1.9tdi.Driving on a motorway at usual speeds and all OK, then when I wanted to accelerate the engine was as flat as a pancake.
Couple of years back a pressure pipe split causing same symptoms but this time no unusual noises and engine runs good, just down on power.

you need to start with the basics such as examining the hoses in the engine bay, does the engine management light come on?

Is power restored by turning the ignition off then on again? (where safe obviously).

Thanks for replies, been off the PC for a few days so late response.
I used the car again a couple of days later and all is working as it should! How very weird?

If you can, get it scanned, as if it has been into limp mode it should have logged a fault, probably a "pending fault".

In mine it had to go into limp mode 3 times before the fault would be "permanent" and light the CEL.

Try forcing it into limp mode by recreating the last time it happened, if it does, then it needs looking at, if it doesn't I wouldnt worry about it.

I've seen this sort of issue a few times with hoses de-laminating inside, so a section folds over & blocks off the airflow at random times.
