Evening all.

My trusty 25+ year old 1/2" drive Draper ratchet gave up the ghost about a year ago, and I bought a Stanley replacement which lasted about a year before failing completely.

Therefore, I am looking for a replacement.

Has anyone used the Halfords Professional ones?:

http://www.halfords.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/...

and are the Machine Mart ones any good?:

http://www.machinemart.co.uk/shop/product/details/...

Many thanks smile

Either Halfords pro or bite the bullet and buy aSnap-On one Expensive yes but if ever you need spares they are avaiable , don't think altho good that halfords warranty covers ratchets

I'd personally go for either Halfords or Facom, Snap-On has always seemed a bit over rated.

facom is always smoothest rachet (and expensive) and guaranteed for life , but id go for britool, also guaranteed for life . a bit more industrial but i do like the feel of them

Hi all. Thanks for the replies. Decided in he end on the Halfords one as MM stuff is OK but I've never found it brilliant - and Halfords is more convenient. Also, I went down with my trade cars, and it was £19.99 rather than £24.99 so that clinched the deal smile

If your just using it at home general every now and then use go for a Halfords.

If it's used a for work or a hell of a lot at home I'd go for a snap on.

I only use stuff for home use so it's not the end of the world if something breaks - but having said that I don't use cheap tools!
