My Mondeo has developed bearing rumble so I bought a hub bearing, now I discover it could be the offside driveshaft centre bearing, the Haynes manual is unclear, it looks like its pressed onto the shaft but there is also a cup protecting the splines.
I only intend to strip suspension once so want to be clear what I need to buy and how to fit, I'll probably do the outer shaft CV joints by buying a recon shaft
The centre shaft and bearing is rare and expensive so want to just buy and replace bearing.
Who has done this
Is it simply pulling off bearing and cup then press on new bearing and cup
If so Iay buy one from scrapyard strip and rebuild befor taking my car to bits
Any help pointers greatfully received

The reason for the post is that the outer shaft is easy to get and cheap
However I can find only 1 supplier of the central shaft and they want £129 for a plain shaft with a £30 bearing
