Hi All,

I would like the option to trickle charge my car a few times this winter when it is not in use. Being a Noble the battery is in the bowels of the engine and for ease most people charge through the cigarette lighter. It also occasionally has to put on and off charge by the missus so the lighter seems to be easiest option for her, rather than a hard wire extension in the clam somewhere.

I already have a charger (that isn't used) but only has battery clips. Before I go and spend on a new CTEK charger, could I simply change out the + / - clips on my existing charger for a lighter plug? (image below)

Any electrical experts know why this would not work?

Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Yep, the lighter is a hot connection so should charge fine, although I know some people don't recommend it as the "go-to" option. It's more if anyone sees/knows any flaws in changing the connectors?

What you are proposing to do sounds absolutely fine if the lighter is 'hot' permanently.

I used to do similar on my bikes with no issues.

you could also run a 2 pin socket and length of wire to be under a seat or somewhere suitable
