Ford Puma boot not opening...

Not an uncommon problem I understand but the boot won't open (using either remote or the key). No noise from the lock when using the remote, key turns but to no avail.

I have started to remove trim from the inside but am struggling to the plastic panel and felt lining off. I understand that once in behind that there should be a cable I can pull to open the latch.

Do I need a workshop manual or does anyone have any useful clues how to get access to the lock. Even knowing whether the cable is to the left or right of the latch would be helpful!

oooh, and does the lack of a clicking noise mean it's likely the solenoid has failed?

Pull it harder, it will either break or it won't.
