Audi TT Dashboard Fan/Whirring Noise - Annoying!!!

Hi, I recently purchased an Audi TT 1.8 Mk1. When I turn the car on, something behind the dash/centre console starts whirring. And no, it's not the heating system as this is switched off. It seems to resonate from close to or underneath the tape player. Does anyone know what this could possible be? It sounds like the bearing or fixture is a little loose, hence the vibration. It could be a fan or certainly something that "spins"!!
