I have been underneath my car for a long time today. 'Why such a long time?' I hear you ask, 'Big job was it?'

No, I need to change the coil pack on my Rover 200. Easy enough I thought, 3 bolts, 2 cables to put on and we are away.
However the coils could not have been put in a more awkward place. Also, the bolts seem to be happy in what has been their home for 16 years.
I have tried everything bar heat to get them off. The reason I have not used heat is there are plastic parts in the vicinity and I don't want to bugger them up.

Can anyone advise on the best way to get this fking thing off? As you can probably tell it's annoying me now as I've wasted a lot of time trying to get it off.

Thanks,
Bob

Unplug it, pull wires to a location more accessible, bolt new one in new location, leave old one to rot at back of engine never to be seen again hehe

How about just taking the inlet manifold off to gain access from the top? It's not that big a job, and while you are at it you can replace the elastomer seal which is so prone to leaking on the K series.

Run the engine up to temperature and then try undoing the bolts, chances are they have thread lock on them the heat does amazing things for thread lock!!
