Socket and ratchet set advice bahco

Hello, I'd like to invest in a socket and ratchet set and two in particular I like are the Bahco S106 (106 piece) and the Bahco S910 (92 piece).
In terms of price there is not much difference (20 quid) but I noticed the S910 has Torx bits 45 50 and 55 where as the S106 seems to have more spanners and few other bits.
Could you experienced folk here recommend which is the better kit for car/motorcycle diy jobs?

I've never used Bacho sockets but Teng is an excellent mid price socket set

Away back in the old days most of my tools were Bahco. I remember having to use a pipe as an extension with a shifter. Tough stuff. Saying that though Halfords Pro with the lifetime takes a bit of beating.

Halfords pro sets don't have hex sockets!!!!! Which is a shame I admit, but they don't.

Op, I'd go for the 106 & add other bits & pieces as & when I needed them. I think more spanners is better than lots of little bits that you can add later.

I've got a Bacho socket set and it's really nice quality, either of those looks like it'll give you most of the stuff you'll regularly need, as mentioned Teng are good too, I have a set of their spanners and they're nice and slim and fit bolts nicely.
One thing I would say is get a 3/8" drive ratchet and socket set too, I find this size the best all-rounder unless I'm doing stuff like suspension work when I need to break out the 1/2" big boys...

We use Teng and Bahco hand tools at work and have (so far) been very good.

I tend to buy the Halfords Pro stuff when on sale for value, quality and lifetime guarantee. Although I found the Teng spanners at work really good so I bought some for home too.

I got a 150 Halfords Pro set last year and so far so good. Some ape like twunt has mangled a torx but that was down to misuse more than anything. Everything is decent quality, plus worth it for the guarantee, just keep your receipt safe!

I have a selection of Bahco hand tools and find the quality/durability very good.

IIRC Bahco are part of the Snap On group

Another vote for Halfords Pro sets here. I got the 170 piece set a couple of years ago for £90 (on offer plus a £10 discount for ordering online). Good quality gear, and as said above a good guarantee too.

The trouble with the Halfords stuff is that it is great quality, but half the stuff won't be used on most modern cars as it's imperial. I resent paying for stuff I'm just not going to use!

I have used and abused that S910 set for a few years now. I would definitely recommend it, the only problem I've had is the rubber handle coming off the 1/4" ratchet, but a bit of epoxy will sort that. Another good point is that the ratchets are quite fine toothed (60 teeth I think.) The socket spanner things aren't much use though, nothing wrong quality wise, just haven't found a use for them.

They had halfords professional kits in the automotive workshops at college. Socketry seemed good enough, but a lot of the ratchets were going all floppy.

I was told a when looking for tools a while ago that Bahco aren't great any more. Halfords Pro have a great rep on here but I went with Teng in the end, really nice stuff, has never let me down.

Have a look at the Clarke ranges at Machine Mart.

Comes with the same guarantee as the Halfords stuff and is beautifully made, tough as boots and well priced.

Well, 2K will buy you a nice toolbox if you want to save up before you can afford to put any tools in it.

Yes they do.

This is the one I have, love and have recommended to many, and it's on the decent offer at the moment too. Very very occasionally (perhaps for one weekend a year) it goes to £80 but this'll do nicely.
