Hi,
On a 968 which should be the same the resistor block is on the top of the blower assembly just in front of the windscreen under the bonnet. It has a series of contacts on it which can be cleaned up by lightly rubbing wet and dry between them. Worked for me.
If its the same it's a simple DIY, a couple of screws and a connector.
Hope this helps
