Polo Window crank lug

Can anyone help? The metal bolt/lug (that looks like a TORX screwdriver) onto which the window crank handle clips has snapped. I can take off all the panels and stuff, but can this bit be replaced or do I have to replace the entire mechanism?

That made sense to me, all three times!
The way you have described it suggests you'll need a new regulator. If the splined shaft has snapped (although I've never known it happen), you cant just replace is so you're probably best to get a second hand mechanism.
