Mk4 golf gti holds back

Right people i have a mk4 golf 1.8t 20v aum engine i had the ko3 turbo on there n that blow up so i put the ko3s turbo on it n when i put my foot down hard it in it kinda hold bk n misfires cuz the exhuast pops n then try's too boost all over again n does it again please help getting fed up of this car but cant sell it like this though

im guessing the ko3s is an upgraded turbo?
you need to find out if its ok to do a straight swap, you may need to get the car remapped to suit the upgrade?
