Hamer Car Lift
Discussion
Has anyone got a Hamer car lift at home ?
I've been looking at this versus a 2 post lift...or even a 4 post lift. I've pretty much settled on a 2 post but started looking at the Hamer as a lower cost option. When I worked out the prices the lowest cost 2 post is not that much more than the Hamer. So either :
1) The Hamer is expensive for what it is, particularly if you go for the higher level extension
2) The cheapest 2 posts are poor quality and the car will fall on my head and kill me therefore I should be spending more on one or,
3) I'm missing something
Could be a combination of the three.
Any experiences ?

How much are you looking at for both options?
Someone I know runs a garage and installed a second 2-post lift a little while back, he said that was £1900 which seemed a reasonable deal for a professional jobbie. There was an X5 on it when I was last there so it's got a reasonable capacity.

What about a moveable type one CJ AUTO'S sell one 2 post. That is the one, I am going for after our house move.
Got a link ? This is the only one I could find but it looks like it just lifts a single wheel :

How does the Hamer work? I've not seen one of those before.
It looks like you hand crank it at each corner, meaning it would be at least a two man job just to get the front or rear end in the air. Or do you lift each corner a few inches at a time and work your way round?
I'm guessing either. What I can't work out is why people buy this vs. the 2 post given the price. Seems a lot of hassle but they seem to be popular. Is there a safety issue with a £1500 2 post lift ?It looks like you hand crank it at each corner, meaning it would be at least a two man job just to get the front or rear end in the air. As long as it has safety locks and is mounted correctly (on at least 18 inches of reinforced concrete), I can't see an issue. I have been using one daily for 5 years now ant nothing has fell on my head. (yet!)I have had one of the Hamer for a few years now. Very practical as it dismantles and sits under my cars when not in use. takes just 15 minutes to assemble and get car raised. Yes much easier if there are 2 of you but I normally do mine single handed.
If you have the space a 2 poster would be better but nothing wrong with the hamer
