Get the plugs out and check if they are oiled, if so this could be the cause of the misfire, it also means you have oil in the combustion chambers, so next time you start it there will still be smoke. Clean or preferably fit new plugs.
You should do an oil change if fitting a fresh turbo.

Taking those two posts together it seems your oil was low because you drained some of it into a bucket. When you changed the turbo did you clean out the intercooler and the air pipes? They will be full of old oil if the last turbo was faulty and that could be the cause of the smoke.
Clean out the intercooler and the pipes, top up the oil and try starting again. If the smoke problem is then cured you should consider an oil and filter change before going on the road with the new turbo.
There are specialised cleaners for oil but you will probably do just as well with domestic detergents such as Daz, Omo, Cillit Bang etc. Take off the intercooler and pipework, mix the detergent fairly strong in warm water and swish it through until it comes clean. Then shake out the water and leave the intercooler and pipes to dry before putting them back.
