Mazda 6 p0040 - DTC code

I recently bought a little odb2 reader and I did a scan on my car and it has come up with this DTC. p0040 as pending.


P0040 O2 Sensor Signals Swapped Bank 1 Sensor 1/ Bank 2 Sensor 1

Is this a faulty o2 sensor on the front? Why would the signals be swapped?
Car is a 2008 2nd gen mazda 6 2.0d.

when you say pending is your engine management light on?

No the engine management light isnt on.

it may be an old code someone has not cleared, clear it and if the management light stays off you have nothing to worry about.

Can you tell me where you got the reader from please, need one for my 59 Mazda 2.2.
Don't want spend a fortune yet, need to do some more research.

There are lots available on Amazon. Mine was £20, a few years ago. Many are cheaper now.

A better solution - if you have an android smart phone - is to get TORQUE and buy a cheap bluetooth OBD2 reader.
