Loom Wire Tracers, any good?
Discussion
Has anyone got any experience or powered wire tracers, like this for example-

I know the basic theory, I've used bigger ones with a C.A.T to do things like trace buried cables, and I know they can sometimes bleed the signal into other conductors.
I remember trying to track down a building's forgotten earth rod and it managed to pick up the signal transmitted in the steel mesh in the concrete service yard all over the place.
I was working on a car yesterday that had a non starting engine conversion, a couple of wires unconnected, and a couple more to the wrong pins. Luckily I managed to get them right pretty quick by checking continuity, but it could easily have been lots of nicking the insulation on various wires to get the right one.
A tracer that puts a signal down a wire would be handy especially if it quickly would show the wire wasn't present at the target at all.
If they work as well as they are claimed, they'd be very useful.
