Re - using an LPG tank?
Discussion
Anyone know about LPG tanks?
I need a petrol tank for my hot rod project and a mate has a LPG tank
What i'm wondering is if i could use it for petrol?
Would the seals, fittings etc be okay to use with petrol?
Also, how would you empty it safely? Ive heard they always have some left when emptied?
Any advice?

It would be perfectly fine to use as a petrol tank. I would be dubious of any rubber seals in it though and swap them out for nitrile items.
Pretty easy to empty the tank. Take it somewhere out in the open, i.e. not in the garage, hook a hose up to it and open the valve. Probably not the H&S recommended way but it works.
Don't forget it will need to be vented but I'm sure you already know this.
If you need to do any drilling/cutting/welding to the tank, the procedure would be to first fill it up with water then empty it. The water will displace any remaining gas. I learned this bit the hard way lol.
