I've got a 2004 grand vitara which came with a cobra 8085T alarm and immobiliser.

I've never had the pin code for it, cobra say they can't help, this model is no longer sold so a straight swap isn't possible. I've now only 1 touch key since the remote fob has given up the ghost today. New fob battery and reprogramming procedure haven't fixed. Without the pin code i can't associate any other touch keys or fobs.

So, removal... Is it as simple as re-soldering and heat shrinking the spliced wires after removing the 8085 box then letting the insurance company know? I'm struggling to find a kit contents list for an 8085 so I can be confident there's no other little box spliced into the vehicle loom somewhere else.

Any pointers greatly appreciated.

quite straightforward as you say, locate all the connections and disconnect, resolder and heatshrink.
Depends on how good the installer was as to location of connections, installation diagrams probably available online somewhere.
