I've got a couple of cars which are too low to drive onto service ramps, even with the extensions. So I'm looking for something like a ramp which you drive onto and then hydraulically lift.

Does this exist for reasonable money? Any recommendations?

Cheers

Have a look at a firm called CJ Autos website, they do various lifts, ramps and tilters. I fancy a pair of their hydraulic ramps that are very low to drive onto, then you pump them up. They do a mechanical version if you can't afford the hydraulic ones.

If you've got a bit more to spend, Strongman do a nice scissor lift.

Yeah, that's the kind of thing:

But £478 is over my budget.

The none hydraulic ones are £150 cheaper, but not as Gucci.

Do you have a link to those ones? I don't 'need' them to be hydraulic, I just assumed they would be. How do the non hydraulic ones work?

here you go http://www.cjautos.eu/product_p/cr02.htm

You can use a socket on a drill driver, or if you're not in a rush, a spanner or ratchet. I have never used a set, but I weigh them up every year at the NEC classic show and almost make a purchase!

The hydraulic ones are ridiculously heavy almost 60kg, each! They're a faff to setup too. Second hand on eBay they go reasonably cheap though so ideal if you have indoor space you can just leave them permanently setup. They do work very well when setup.

Otherwise, I'm faster with a normal floor jack than going through the setup.

Caravan levelling ramps, £20 2nd hand, £45 new. Low lift, only 4" at the max but with the benefit they'll go under anything.

8x2" treated lumber or 47mm x 200mm in new money, is surprisingly expensive. Heavier than the caravan ramps but you can make any design and any height and they'll last if looked after.
