Could anyone recommend me a good quality impact driver? A good ol' fashioned manual type, not interested in any electric types.
Apart from a snap-on one I have used all others I have had/used are ste! Bits break, impact driver in-effective even when given a good wallop etc. Any other recommendations or shall I just save myself the trouble and buy a snap-on one?

Was it this one: http://www.wilcodirect.co.uk/product/impact-driver...
What do you think of the bit set that comes with it? Are they fairly rugged or are they likely to shear? My problem is that when I need to use an impact driver it's a certainty that it is going to take some heavy abuse smash

I bought this http://www.carpartsgenie.com/ecommerce/featured/CP... and it`s had a good battering and still as good as when i first used it.

carpartsgenie.com have 10% off tools at the moment also which made it cheaper too .... bonus

Cheers guys, that's what I was hoping for. Someone who has a particular model and has given it a good battering laugh
We had a couple at work, can't remember what make they were but I kept breaking the flatblade bits on tougher screws. That laser set looks quite good though might have to give it a go smile

Ingersoll rand, all others are poor substitutes.
I`ve had my composite gun for nearly 20 years, never once had an issue with it even after repeated dropping from some decent heights.
Never had a problem with any of my other Ingersoll stuff either.
It`s also the most powerful gun(1/2")I have ever encountered and not far short of my 3/4" gun which runs on a larger feed pipe.

Interesting, some good reviews there. The biggest thing stopping me buying any impact driver is the quality of the bits, basically it's rare I need to use an impact driver but when I do I use flatblade bits and hit them fackin hard biggrin
Lots of impact drivers I have used I simply shear the end of the bit, I need real decent quality impact bits.

Quite like the look of that sealey 2084 and the 1/2" laser one though

Buy a snap on one smile

I had a cheap 'draper' job which worked for a while but quickly gave up, I now have the Mac version but its crap in comparison to the snap on one frown
