What do people use as adapters on these to press stuff out?

sockets? metal tubes?

One of the bushes I need to take out is something like 11 cm wide!

The area around our press is littered with old sockets, hubs and bearings... I always manage to cobble something together out of them!

ETA: Oh and there's a pair ov 'V'-blocks too.

11cm wide! Is this a truck?

Have used plenty of sockets in the past but as above our place is littered with bits and bobs and a decent lathe so if there isn't something that fits, I can soon make something that does.

Same here, sockets, bit of old tubing, old brake discs etc. If all else fails I just nip down to a local metal working company & see what offcuts of tube they have that will do the job - never cost more than a couple of quid & usually a lot less.

There's cheap stuff on ebay that you can buy. A set of different diameter rings for pressing bearings and the like. About £15 I think.

Any pointer? Can't find which bit you're referring to exactly.

This is the item I'm thinking of.

Item number

Oh I did see them, I just assumed they wouldn't be strong enough for the job? Was I wrong?

Well as long as they are used in compression they should be OK I would have thought. The problem will come if you don't support them sufficiently, and then I see exactly what you mean.
Only one way to find out I suppose.......
